The Foundation Checklist

The basics that move the needle — before you spend a dollar on anything else.

From Virtually New You

You don't need a lab test to begin feeling better. You need the basics done consistently — and most people have never had someone lay them out plainly. That's what this is.

Before you spend a dollar on testing or a program, these are the things that move the needle for most people. None of it is glamorous. All of it works better than it has any right to. Do a handful, give it a few weeks, and a lot of what feels "off" starts to settle.

And if, after this, you decide paid care isn't for you right now — that's a good outcome. This is genuinely useful on its own. Print it. Check the boxes. Come back to it.

01

Sleep

Nothing else works well on bad sleep. Start here.

02

Food

You don't need a perfect diet. You need a steadier one.

03

Movement

The goal isn't a workout program. It's stop sitting still all day.

04

Stress & your nervous system

If your body is stuck in "always on," everything else gets harder.

05

Sunlight & rhythm

Your body runs on a daily rhythm. Light and routine are how you set it.

The Foundation Stack

The checklist above matters far more. But once the basics are in place, some people ask what's worth considering. A few well-researched categories come up again and again as general foundational basics for otherwise healthy adults:

These are general categories, not a prescription. Whether any of it makes sense for you depends on your own picture — that's a conversation with a clinician, not a checklist.

A few honest notes before you buy anything:
  • Supplements don't replace nutrition, sleep, prescribed treatment, or medical care — and they don't treat, cure, or fix any condition. Nail the checklist first.
  • If we ever point you to a specific product, VNY may earn a commission on supplements purchased through our links. We only point to things we'd use ourselves, and you're never obligated to buy through us. When VNY patients get access to a discount, we'll pass it along.
  • Talk to your own clinician before adding anything, especially if you take medications or have a health condition.

When you're ready for more

This checklist handles the basics. What it can't do is look at your whole picture — your history, your symptoms, your labs — and tell you what's actually going on for you.

When you're ready for that, the Clarity Visit is there. Bring your recent labs, sit down with Karla — our nurse practitioner — and get a real, plain-language read on where you stand and what to do next. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just answers.

Virtually New You is a nurse-practitioner-led virtual practice serving Pennsylvania. General education only — not medical advice — and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or replace care from your own clinician.

Worked through this and still feel the same? That’s the point at which the labs you already have are worth reading properly.
